Ever wonder how a rugged, raw plank of hardwood transforms into a sleek, furniture-grade photo mount on your desk?
In a world full of mass-produced plastic frames and flimsy paper prints, we take a very different approach here at Woodsnap. We believe that your favorite memories—wedding vows, family milestones, or unforgettable trips—deserve a tactile, handcrafted home built to last generations.
Today, we're taking you behind the scenes at our Riverside, California workshop to show you how every custom photo mount begins its journey.
Step 1: Hand-Selecting Premium Hardwood Lumber
Before any mounting begins, it starts with raw, high-grade material. We don't buy pre-cut, hollow craft blocks from mass overseas suppliers. Instead, our team hand-selects raw, solid hardwood planks—from rich American Walnut to pristine Birch and White Maple.
Every plank that comes off our truck is inspected for structural integrity, grain density, and unique character lines. Because wood is an organic material, no two planks are ever identical.

Step 2: Precision Milling & Table Saws
Once unloaded into our woodshop, these heavy lumber planks are brought over to our precision saws. Our craftsmen carefully rip, cross-cut, and square the raw lumber into perfectly weighted, solid photo blocks.
-
Thick & Freestanding: Cut to solid thickness so your memories sit perfectly on any desk, mantel, or bookshelf without needing a frame or kickstand.
-
Hand-Sanded Smooth: Every block undergoes multi-stage hand-sanding to ensure butter-smooth edges and a clean mounting surface.

Step 3: Precision Photo Mounting
Once the raw photo block is prepped and perfectly smooth, it moves over to our specialized photo mounting station.
Here, a commercial-grade, archival adhesive is applied to the wood face. Our team carefully aligns and mounts your high-resolution print directly to the solid wood block. This process seals your photo flush to the hardwood, creating a clean, modern, frameless look with exceptional color clarity and zero edge peel over time.
