To Write Love on Her Arms And GWED- Healing Together

To write love on her arms motto.I recently came across a story from a GWED beneficiary. To Write Love on Her Arms posted a blog that changed my way of thinking and I would like to share.

To Write Love on Her Arms

This is a charity that raises funds to assist people that are struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. Their blog is quite inciteful and you should definitely check it out.

When the Fat Girl Gets Skinny

The post that caught my attention was titled When the Fat Girl Gets Skinny. It was written by Blythe Baird. The story discusses the thought process of an overweight teen that develops an eating disorder. When she loses weight she is bombarded by positive reinforcement. So her self-harming behavior becomes more of a struggle.

An eating disorder is a difficult struggle and it is one that has to be fought every day. So, struggling with this and being positively reinforced for has to be devastating.

I have to admit that in the past if I've seen someone lose weight, I've encouraged them or congratulated them. I don't think I will be able to do that anymore. There is a difference between losing weight and being healthy. Therefore, I believe my compliments will be focused on healthy living. Because that's what's really important.

This experience inspired a short film which you can view here.

GWED- The Greatest Wedding Ever Donated and To Write Love on Her Arms

GWED is a charity gala being thrown by Tiffany Au and Caleb Remington. Caleb suffers from cystic fibrosis. So, they have decided to turn their wedding into an event that will benefit charities. To Write Love on Her Arms is one of those charities.

WoodSnap is proud to be a sponsor of GWED. We're very excited to spread awareness regarding the various charities involved with the event. It appears to be working because you've raised this bloggers awareness and understanding.
